Akkermansia muciniphila is a bacterial species that naturally occurs in the human gastrointestinal tract. In healthy individuals, this bacterium makes up 0.5% to 5% of the total gut microbiome. The bacterium was first isolated in 2004 at Wageningen University by the research team of Prof. Dr. Willem M. de Vos. Akkermansia muciniphila belongs to the group of commensal bacteria: microorganisms that naturally live in and on the human body. The bacterium is anaerobic, meaning it lives without oxygen. About this product The Akkermansia Company® Weight Control was developed based on 17 years of scientific research and combines natural ingredients. Each tablet contains 30 billion pasteurised Akkermansia muciniphila bacteria, combined with green tea extract (EGCG), chromium and vitamins B2 and D3. Green tea with EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate) helps to keep weight under control*.
